Hazel is a Veterinary and Chartered Physiotherapist based in Alnwick, Northumberland. She specialises in the treatment of horses, providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services throughout Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
She qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of East Anglia in 2001. Since that time, she has gained further valuable experience in specialties including orthopaedics, neurology and musculoskeletal medicine, as well as sports injuries.
Returning to university to study at the Royal Veterinary College (University of London), Hazel gained an MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy, allowing her to transfer her skills to the assessment and treatment of animals. She now treats horses throughout Northumberland and Scottish Borders.
For over 10 years Hazel worked within the NHS as a Specialist Physiotherapist in Musculoskeletal Medicine, with additional qualifications in Orthopaedic Medicine, manual therapies, as well as acupuncture. She continues to offer such treatments within the private setting and, with the additonal training in Veterinary Physiotherapy, is optimally placed to assess and treat both rider and horse combinations to maximise performance.
In 2012 Hazel was invited to be the Equine Physiotherapist for Team GB, Single Horse Carriage Driving. As part of this role she has continued to accompany the team to successive World Championships, most recently to Kronenberg in the Netherlands.
As a Chartered Physiotherapist, Hazel adheres to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy’s regulations and standards of practice and has professional and public liability insurance. She works closely with the Veterinary profession and other specialists to provide the highest standard of care for your animal. All animals are assessed only with veterinary referral or consent
